The Delta Ophthalmological Society of Egypt (DOSE) is a scientific society that was founded in the year 1996.

Pioneers from four of the Egyptian Universities in the Delta region of Egypt laid foundation for the DOSE; these were Alexandria, Tanta, Zagazig and Mansoura Universities.

Thanks to the sincere efforts of the founders, the DOSE has expanded significantly to currently include the Universities of Menoufia, Benha, Alazhar and Port said.

The DOSE has a vision to promote the practice of Ophthalmology in the Delta region primarily and in the whole of Egypt and the Middle East secondarily.

This vision is realised through a task force of faculty members that strive to perfect both scientific meetings and a scientific publication; the Delta Journal of Ophthalmology (DJO) that was published since 2000 and is online since 2015 at review.jow.medknow.com

The DOSE holds an annual scientific meeting (that is held in February) that has been running regularly from the year 1997, in addition to several satellite meetings throughout the years.

The DJO is the scientific publication of the DOSE. It is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles related to Ophthalmology, Optometry and Vision Science. The DJO is published in 4 issues yearly (every 3 months).

The DOSE is a non-profit organisation registered under the Egyptian law and is funded by annual subscription fees paid by the members.
